ANN WIDDECOMBE has now retired as an MP and moved out of the area. Consequently she has also retired as our President. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all she has done for us over a very long time.

Musical Picnic May 30th 2010 A break in the weather was most welcome for our Musical Picnic in a wonderful marquee in the beautiful grounds of Sevenoaks School to whom we are most grateful. Hatstand Opera performed for almost 300 guests who had provided their own picnics with their friends. Over £5,000 was raised - our thanks go to all who helped in any way towards the success of the evening.
Children's Disco May 7th 2010 As ever this was exceedingly popular with almost 200 pre-teens bopping the night away to generate approx £1,890 the most ever, Our thanks to those who came, those who organised the evening so brilliantly and Sony the Butcher in Hadlow for the wonderful sausages.
Fashionably Conscious March 2nd 2010 For what seemed like the first time in 3 months the sun came out as did supporters from their homes. Benenden Village Hall was full of top quality clothes for all ages and sizes + shoes, boots and bags. Many many people went home with great bargains and KHoCA is £5,330 richer. With many thanks to those who masterminded the day and the shoppers - it does not happen without you.
Bridge Winter 2009/10. This winter we again held two afternoon sessions with, as ever, the usual delicious KHoCA tea! Luckily they took place between snow storms and were as popular as ever. This winter over £2,383 was raised, our thanks to all concerned.
Children's Party 2009. As ever this was very popular - 129 children played games, saw Father Christmas, watched the Magician, ate party food and sang Christmas carols. It is a huge undertaking and we thank all those who worked, sponsored or helped in any other way for all they did. It is so popular and always a sell out. This year we raised £4,450 - amazing.
GOLF DAY Nov 11th 2009 Our events have usually and luckily been held on fine days – not this time though, but it did not matter. 84 golfers had a taxing round of Golf at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club in the fog and rain followed by a huge warming lunch and a collapse in the comfy sofas afterwards. Luckily most woke up to bid in the auction. Never have I seen the committee ‘sold’ before but they volunteered to cook a magnificent dinner for one lucky couple. I don’t think quite so much money has been raised outside Kent in one day before - £17,500. Our thanks must go to the Club for all their help and to our sponsors for the day. A very early start and a long day but well worth it.
We returned to Somerhill in October for our 25th Gift Fair – definitely a record throughout the UK. This is thanks to you, our supporters, who come so regularly to do your shopping. The last time we were at Somerhill was about 15 years ago and a lot has changed. We had the use of the Sports Hall and the wonderful new Dining Hall and the most amazing amount of help – not to mention the Fire Brigade who had to come to our rescue whilst setting up! The sun shone, the stalls were amazing as ever and our supporters had a good day. Thank you all so much for coming. Our thanks must go to the Trustees of the Schools at Somerhill for kindly allowing us to use their superb facilities, and the staff for all their help.
A whopping £10,000+ was raised.
Sarah Raven A superb fundraising lunch was held in a marquee in Tudeley on September 14th following a wedding. !20 guests enjoyed a talk by Sarah Raven on the Cutting Garden - how to plant it and look after it and lots and lots of tips on anything else one wanted to know in relation to gardening. Her magnificent shop was also there for some retail therapy. Following her interesting talk everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and all went home with huge grins on their faces - a sure sign of a good event. Once again our thanks must go to Sarah for being such a star, to Sonny the Butcher for the chicken and The Leggs for the use of the fabulous marquee and anyone else who contributed tp the event. £3,800 was raised.
